Karen has lived in the mountain communities of Evergreen and Conifer since 1978. She, and her husband Jim, have 3 daughters who have all graduated from Evergreen High School and Colorado State University. Karen lives on a ranch in Evergreen that is listed in the Colorado brand registry with their JKC brand. The ranch land that their home was built on was originally homesteaded in 1861, and the National Historical Registry Everhardt-Herzman log home is still lived in. The ranch is also noted for the annual elk calving each spring of the Mt. Evans elk herd. The rich history and beauty of the region, is what originally attracted Karen and her husband to the mountains 28 years ago. Colorado’s mountain lifestyle and the Evergreen area also affords them the ability to indulge their hobbies/passion of raising quarter horses, trail riding, community involvement, skiing and gardening.
Karen has extensive knowledge of our mountain communities having lived in both Evergreen and Conifer for over 29 years. She specializes in residential/ranch properties in the mountain & foothills area.
Karen is honored to be able to serve in the mountain communities she calls home. She co-founded a non-profit 501-C-3© organization whose mission is to develop character values in the youth of the community while partnering with schools, businesses, parents, civic & youth organizations and the community at large. Karen served as Cougar Pride’s founding President for 4 years. She currently serves on the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and their Executive Board as Secretary, as well as Chairs the Ambassador Committee. She also serves on the Evergreen Art Council Board of Directors. She is a “Leadership Evergreen” graduate and was one of the “Leader of the Year” finalists for 2006. As an Evergreen Rotarian she has served on their Board of Directors while chairing and serving on numerous committees during her 10+ years. She has been recognized by her club as the “Rotarian of the Month” and has received “Distinguished Service Citation Awards” for her volunteer work.
