Grants of Free Hay from Colorado Horsecare Foodbank Keeps 3 Horses & A Miniature Donkey With Their Family

Ned & Jed: We are happy today: sun is shining on snow, birds are singing, and our horse friends, Frankie, Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket, get to stay with their humans. Their humans moved them very fast to a new pasture and barn, and there wasn’t enough hay to eat.

The humans were sad and talking about selling Frankie, and using the paper in wallets that humans like so much to buy food for Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket. Frankie was scared: What humans will take me? Will I like them? Will they feed me? Groom me? Talk to me in soft voice like music of the river? Frankie was scared to be sent away. Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket were sad to lose their friend and eat food because Frankie was sent away.

Now, everyone is feeling good. Our friends at Colorado Horsecare Foodbank gave hay to the humans to feed Frankie, Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket. When the hay came, the humans cried. But they were not sad; they were happy. Our horse friends are not hungry now. They feel safe & peaceful. When humans feed them now, the humans are humming softly.

Peanut butterEditor’s Note: Colorado Horsecare Foodbank provided grants of free, emergency hay to Frankie, Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket’s family, after the only breadwinner in the family became ill and lost his job. The family was being forced to sell one horse to feed the others. Colorado Horsecare Foodbank’s grant of temporary hay gave the family the breathing room and time to find work and catch up on bills. So Frankie, Peanut Butter, Sunny & Bisket get to stay together. Check out our Success Story on this family’s recovery with help from Colorado Horsecare Foodbank
