May Flowers For Food Fundraiser
Ned & Jed: Days are getting longer and sun is shining more. Our bird friends with red brown chests are back from winter travels. Humans call them robins but we don’t know why. Our robin friend Bluebell is back, and sitting on Jed’s back and singing to us. She is happy too and starting to make a nest. Earth is coming alive again. GREEN GRASS is here! FLOWERS, too! When we see flowers growing in our pasture, we know our friends at Colorado Horsecare Foodbank are busy moving flowers in little containers, and other humans come and give our friends paper from their wallets, and take the little flowers away. All the humans seem happy when they do this. Do humans eat flowers? We would rather eat fresh, new green grass.
Editor’s Note: Colorado Horsecare Foodbank is getting ready for its annual Flowers For Food fundraiser. On two consecutive weekends in May, we’ll be selling individual flowers & vegetable plants, hanging planters, deck rail planters, and much more. Proceeds from selling these gorgeous, healthy flowers will help us fulfill our mission of providing temporary grants of emergency hay, grain, basic veterinary care, and/or hoof care to Colorado horses when their owners are facing temporary financial hardship. Please plan to buy your flowers & vegetable plants from us, and/or considering volunteering to help sell flowers over two weekends in May.
