Colorado Horsecare Foodbank’s Annual Flowers For Food Fundraiser Is Coming In May 2016: Please Plan To Buy Your Flowers From Us!

Sun is shining warm on our backs, our bird friends are singing, and we are happy that spring is here. Our pasture is turning green and it smells good. We feel everything coming back to life. A fox just ran across our pasture and into the woods. Our friends at Colorado Horsecare Foodbank are busy growing plants in big rooms with glass walls that let the sun in. Soon, they will take the little plants to the city where people will come and take them away. When the humans do this, they smile a lot, and then butterflies come when the flowers bloom. We are glad to see the humans growing the little plants. After they take the plants away to the city, they come back with paper that is used to buy more hay for our hungry horse friends. The horses are happy when they have enough food to eat. And humans are happy with their flowers, and when their horses are happy with shiny coats. Warm sun. Lots of delicious hay filling mangers. Life is good.
Editor’s Note: Colorado Horsecare Foodbank is getting ready for its annual 2016 Flowers For Food fundraiser. In May, we’ll be selling individual flowers & vegetable plants, hanging planters, deck rail planters, and more, at two locations in central Denver. Plus we’ll be making arrangements to pick up folks’ existing deck rail planters and fill them with plants as part of this fundraiser. Proceeds from selling these gorgeous, healthy flowers and veggie plants will raise money to help us fulfill our mission of providing temporary grants of emergency hay, grain, basic veterinary care, and/or hoof care to Colorado horses when their owners are facing temporary financial hardship. Please plan to buy your flowers & vegetable plants from us, and/or considering volunteering to help sell flowers in May. Weather permitting, we’re shooting for the weekend of May 21st.
